Unnamed sources have leaked information about a controversial scene from the newly-released Biblical blockbuster Son of God. The scene references the unsubstantiated, but oft-told, tale of Jesus' disciple Peter climbing onto the cross with the savior, who then points out his unique vantage point on Peter's house, some considerable distance away.
"I couldn't believe it was in there," said one awestruck moviegoer. "I mean, we used to tell that story in Catholic school, but only while we were sneaking cigarettes in the stairwell. I don't ever recall it being part of a lesson."
"There is no proof that this incident actually happened," stated Biblical scholar Ronald Updike. "It was decidedly hysterical -- I'm sorry, I mean bold -- of the filmmakers to include it in the finished film."
The producers of the film could not be reached for comment, however many Internet sources are now already saying the scene was from an earlier cut of the project and has since been taken out.
"Oh, they shot the scene," claims background actor F. Noah Toussant, who endured 12 grueling hours of filming to be part of the crowd for repeated takes. "They didn't tell the actor playing Peter what was going on, and by the time he got to the top of the cross and Jesus sprang the punchline on him, the two actors and the whole crew just busted up. I didn't know what to think, but I suspect whoever came up with the idea might perhaps burn in Hell for eternity."
It could be that only a select few early test audiences actually saw the soon-to-be notorious "house from up here" scene, but whatever the case, it sounds like the long-discussed possibility of a Laughing Jesus may have shown his face for a brief time on our movie screens.
