The Times is freaking out about the success of the movie The Blind Side, somehow making the connection between Sandra Bullock's character and Sarah Palin and fretting that it may actually win an Academy Award this year. I'm still not convinced that it will, but it is true that it is something of a miracle that it was ever nominated. Whatever happens there, it was the big winner at the Movieguide Awards gala at the Beverly Wilshire where it won a number of awards. Other winners included Invictus, The Stoning of Saroya M, Not Easily Broken and in the TV category Bedford and Gifted Hands.

Movieguide has long been making the case to a sometimes skeptical town that family fare makes more money at the box office and they may have their best example yet of the phenomenon with the box office success of The Blind Side.
