Is Netflix Spending Too Much Money? Ted Sarandos Isn't Worried

Is Netflix Spending Too Much Money?

With the rise in original programming, is it possible that Netflix is spending too much money? Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos in't worried.

Although the streaming service's recent commitments will take spending on original programming "up pretty dramatically," according to Deadline, it will only amount to less than 10 percent of Netflix's total costs. “Keep in mind, it is within the forecasted content spend, not in addition to," Sarandos said.

And if you think the wells have run dry for "House of Cards" and "Orange Is the New Black," think again. In addition to the fact that fans are re-watching both shows ahead of their second seasons, the buzz around them has hardly died down.

“The audience for those shows is continuing to grow, as we hoped,” Sarandos said, noting that they've seen “nice spikes” over the last few months thanks to awards attention ... and, of course, in anticipation of the upcoming season of "House of Cards," which hits Netflix on Friday, February 14.
