Jan 02, 2014 | Updated Jan 23, 2014

Now that the Bloomberg era in New York is officially over, a new video takes a look back at how the city's streets have changed over the past 12 years.

"NYC Streets Metamorphosis," produced by Streetfilms, doesn't focus on the dramatic transformations brought on by gentrification in Bloomberg's New York, but rather on the accomplishments of his outgoing transportation commissioner, Janette Sadik-Khan.

Watch before-and-after footage of several locations, including Times Square and Kent Avenue in Brooklyn, to see how Khan's vision of a more bike- and pedestrian-friendly city became a reality.
