With Adrian Peterson sidelined by a foot injury, Cordarrelle Patterson made sure the Minnesota Vikings still had at least one jaw-dropping touchdown run in Week 17.

The rookie wide receiver scored Minnesota's opening touchdown against the Detroit Lions with a mazy 50-yard run after taking a pitch from quarterback Matt Cassell. The line of scrimmage on the play was the 50-yard line but Patterson retreated as far back as the Vikings' 38-yard line before embarking on his wild journey to the end zone. Along the way, he ran to his right, back to his left and slowed down at one point to fake a throw.

The touchdown staked the Vikings to an early 7-0 lead in their final game at the Metrodome. Patterson set a pair of franchise records with the scoring jaunt. It was his third rushing score of the season, the most ever for a Vikings wide receiver in a single season. At 50 yards it was also the longest rushing touchdown by Vikings wide receiver.
