Cop's Alleged Anti-Obama Facebook Rant: 'Go Die In A Shallow Grave'

Cop Allegedly Posts Shocking Anti-Obama Facebook Rant

That's Officer Coon Trapper to you!

New York state policeman Peter Burns found himself in hot water -- and temporarily out of a job -- after allegedly posting an anti-Obama Facebook rant under a pseudonym.

"The fact that he (Obama) is still alive bewilders me,” the Pleasantville, N.Y., officer allegedly wrote, reports local outlet The Journal News. “Go die in a shallow grave you Muslim commie.”

The rant appeared on a Facebook page for someone going by the name "Coon Trapper." A reporter for The Journal News obtained the posts and turned them over to Pleasantville Police Chief Richard Love on Monday.

In a statement sent to The Huffington Post, Chief Love said his department was taking the newspaper's allegations seriously, calling the Facebook posts "despicable."

"These statements were allegedly made by a Pleasantville Police Officer," Love said. "Such statements are totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The Police Officer who allegedly made the posting has been placed on administrative leave and has been relieved of his duties. The Police Department has commenced an internal investigation into this matter. This investigation is presently ongoing. Following the conclusion of the investigation and the examination of its results, the Police Department will consider all legal options, including the possibility of commencing disciplinary proceedings against the Police Officer which could lead to his dismissal."

According to the Pleasantville Daily Voice, Burns was one of the village's highest-paid employees last year, with a salary of $92,345.

Raw Story notes that this is not the first time police or first responders have gotten into trouble over alleged Facebook activity. In October, a detective in Texas was suspended for posting sensitive information on his Facebook page. Just last week, an Indiana volunteer fire chief stepped down for Facebook posts promoting the Ku Klux Klan.
