If Only Every Mistake Resulted In An Apology Letter As Cute As This

If Only Every Mistake Resulted In An Apology Letter Like This

The world is a better place for having 5-year-old Faith in it.

The British youngster, whose parents have requested she not be fully identified because she's a "very shy little girl," sent an adorable apology letter to a department store after breaking a Christmas ornament, the BBC reports.

(Story continues below)

The letter, scrawled in pencil, is addressed to the John Lewis department store in Cambridge and reads, "I'm sorry I broke a Christmas bauble on Saturday. It cost two pounds. Here is the money for it. Sorry again, Faith."

True to her word, Faith included money in the form of two, £1 coins, taped to a reinforced section of the letter. She also included a hand-drawn picture at the bottom, presumably of her holding the Christmas ornament.

When the letter first arrived at the store, general manager Dominic Joyce said they had no idea from whom it came.

"It was just the sweetest letter that was addressed to the John Lewis Christmas Department," Joyce told the BBC. "It had a Cambridge postmark and that's all we knew. We think the drawing is of her holding the bauble - it may be a self portrait, but other than that we had nothing else to go on."

The store had no means to contact Faith directly, so they shared a photo of the letter on Twitter (see the Tweet, above), and the post quickly went viral, resulting in a call to the store from Faith's mother.

As for the broken ornament, Joyce seems more appreciative of Faith's honesty than having made back the £2.

"She visited us on one of our busiest weekends of the year" Joyce said, according to the Daily Mail, "and we still are unsure as to which bauble was broken."
