Fans Throw Thousands Of Teddy Bears On Hockey Rink (VIDEO)

It's Raining Teddy Bears On Ice!

It's raining teddy bears, hallelujah, it's raining teddy bears!

Last Sunday, forward Pavel Padakin of the Calgary Hitmen scored the "Teddy Bear Toss" goal at at the 3:42 mark of the second period of the game against the Medicine Hat Tigers. At that moment, 17,199 fans tossed in their bears.

But the ocean of fuzz wasn't just for fun.

According to ESPN, the event was the 19th annual charity effort which happens across the Canadian Hockey League every November and December. The bears are given to multiple charities to distribute to those in need.

Other teams, like the Edmonton Oil Kings, Belleville bulls and Kootenay Ice have their own version of the event where items like winter gloves and hats are thrown in.

This was the second year in a row Pavel Padakin scored the final "Teddy" goal. Last year, however, only a mere 25,000 bears made it to the rink, but this year the count came to a whopping 25,921 bears!

We can only imagine the number of bears next year will bring.
