MSNBC came out on top over CNN in the month of November for both primetime and total day, according to the recent data from Nielsen.
MSNBC beat CNN in total viewers (752,000 to 488,000) and in the key age 25-54 demo (193,000 to 141,000) during the weekday primetime hours. The network also topped CNN in total viewers for total day (401,000 to 335,000) as well as for the key demo, coming in with 124,000 viewers to CNN’s 100,000. MSNBC also beat CNN in October.
Fox News dominated the ratings chart once again this month, coming out on top for both primetime and total day for the 143rd consecutive month. The network saw 2,011,000 total viewers and 348,000 key demo viewers during primetime. Those numbers however are down 21 percent and 41 percent respectively from November 2012.
All of CNN's weekday primetime programs saw increases in year-to-date viewership. Specifically, “Anderson Cooper 360” at 8 p.m. saw a 25 percent increase in total viewers and 26 percent increase in demo viewers, the largest increase of any cable news show during that hour as compared to the 2012 year-to-date data. However, of all the networks, CNN had the largest decrease in key demo viewers, down 62 percent in primetime and 59 percent in total day.
