Matt Lauer, Al Roker Have Prostate Exams On 'Today'

Matt Lauer and Al Roker shared a little more of themselves than usual on Thursday when they got prostate exams on "Today."

The feature was part of the show's month-long initiative to promote men's health. Lauer and Roker got rectal exams on air, albeit behind closed doors.

When he emerged from the exam room, Lauer said, "It doesn't hurt at all. Is it the best 34 seconds of your life? Probably not. But if in 34 seconds a (doctor) can detect something that might save your life, what are we talking about?"

"No, it's not comfortable," Roker said. "But it's certainly, obviously do-able."

The most squeamish part was maybe when Dr. David Samadi, Lauer's regular urologist, joked, "I had to lose 5 lbs in order to make my finger a little smaller." The reaction back in the studio said it all, really:
