Jorge Ramos Calls Arpaio Most 'Most Hated Man In Hispanic Community' (VIDEO)

Watch Jorge Ramos Beat Up On America's Toughest Sheriff

Jorge Ramos is kicking off his new English-language broadcast by doing what he does best -- beating up on Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The United States’ most prominent Latino journalist led “America with Jorge Ramos” on Tuesday with a confrontational segment on the Maricopa County Sheriff, known for his crackdowns on illegal immigration.

“Let’s begin with a man who calls himself ‘America’s Toughest Sheriff,’” Ramos said. “What he doesn’t know is that he is possibly the most hated man in the Hispanic community. His name is, of course, Sheriff Joe Apraio, and he is unforgiven.”

The encounter got off to a rocky start, with Arpaio asking whether Ramos had asked for President Barack Obama’s birth certificate the last time he interviewed him.

“The fraudulent birth certificate from Hawaii is a fake,” Arpaio said after the adversaries shared a half-hug and pats on the back.

“We haven’t spoken for more than 30 seconds and you’ve already said something outrageous,” Ramos responded.

Arapio then gives Ramos the tour of Tent City, the famous prison complex that the Arizona sheriff created to save taxpayer money.

The sheriff didn’t care for the way Ramos portrayed him. After the segment aired, Arpaio posted the link to Facebook with a note reading “Jorge Ramos has interviewed the President many times, but I bet he never introduced the segment with derogatory comments like he does with me.”

While he didn’t enjoy the negative portrayal, Arpaio likely expected it. In an interview last year on “Al Punto,” Ramos also went for the jugular.

“As you know to many Latinos, you are the face of racism and discrimination,” Ramos said. “You know that.”

Arpaio said Latinos loved him and asked Ramos “how do you know they don’t like me?”
