As you may know (due to the extensive national press coverage it received), in early September The Not All Like That (NALT) Christians Project was launched. Modeled on the It Gets Better Project, the purpose of the NALT Christians website is to give any and all LGBT-affirming Christians a means of sharing their belief that there is nothing anti-biblical or sinful about being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

Leaders of progressive Christianity have taken advantage of the NALT Christians platform to let the world know that, contrary to the impression they may have received from the media, not all Christians subscribe to the stridently anti-gay Christianity espoused by organizations as the American Family Association and the National Organization for Marriage. The video testimonials of these LGBT-affirming pastors, theologians and artists stand as evidence of the sea change in this issue now taking place across the country.

Here's the NALT Christians video of Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Episcopal bishop:

Here is Jay Bakker, son of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, and longtime champion of LGBT equality:

Celebrated singer-songwriter Ray Boltz has this to say (and sing!):

One of the first and greatest leaders in the fight for LGBT equality is Dr. Mel White, founder of SoulForce:

Here's the mighty Tony Jones lending his voice to the choir:

Author Frank Schaeffer is the son of Francis Schaeffer, a founder of the modern Religious Right:

Writer and gay activist Randy Roberts Potts is the grandson of televangelist Oral Roberts:

Last but by no means least, here's the NALT video of influential writer Fred Clark, better known throughout the Christian blogosphere as Slacktivist:

If you are a Christian who believes that God is no more concerned with a person's sexual orientation or gender identity than S/he is about the color of a person's hair or eyes, The NALT Christians Project wholeheartedly invites you (and your church!) to make your own NALT Christians video.
