Private Pool In NYC Is A Little Piece Of Heaven... And Nearly Touches It (PHOTOS)

LOOK: This Home Has A Secret To Surviving Winter

A Caribbean cruise or vacation rental south of the equator are one way to escape the impending winter chill, and then there's developer Keith Jacobson's approach: to build a 2,000-square-foot oasis atop his New York City apartment, complete with a lap pool that heats up to 104 degrees. (That means he can even take a dip during New York's coldest months.)

"It was just a rooftop with nothing on it, and the kitchen was two floors down," Jacobson told the magazine of his formerly bare-bones space.

But Jacobson saw the rooftop's potential and employed design firm D'Apostrophe to help maximize it, creating the ultimate urban escape.

Check out his incredible rooftop oasis in the slideshow below and in the Winter 2014 edition of New York Magazine's Design Hunting. And for more great decor stories, visit NYMag.com's Design page.
