Katy Perry Smolders On W Magazine Cover As '60s Pinup (PHOTOS)

Katy Perry Smolders On The Cover Of W Magazine

Katy Perry smolders as W magazine's November 2013 cover girl, channeling the '60s vixen style of yesteryear with big curls and a thick cat eye.

This is the 28-year-old beauty's first time covering the iconic fashion mag, and she has two alternate cover shots to commemorate the moment (which just so happens to coincide with the release of her fourth studio album, "Prism"). In one shot, she shows her famous curves in a white Chanel dress and some Harry Winston jewels. In the other, she pouts in a pink Michael Kors sweater and dramatic Revlon ColorStay gel eyeliner.

While she has a decidedly retro vibe in the editorial, shot by Mario Sorrenti, the "Birthday" singer says her personal style is a bit more rock n' roll. "My style icons were Gwen Stefani, when she was in No Doubt, and then Shirley Manson in Garbage," she told the magazine. [Ed. note: We were totally Gwen girls too, Katy.]

And even before she could afford Chanel and Valentino threads, Perry "always made do -- if I had five dollars, I'd go to the thrift stores on State Street and get my vintage cardigans and pencil skirts," she added. "Thank God for the body, because that '40s look really worked on me." We always knew she was a girl after our own hearts.
