'Catfish: The TV Show' Reunion: An Unexpected Proposal Highlights Positive Possibilities (VIDEO)

A Surprise Proposal At The 'Catfish' Reunion Show

For the season finale reunion special of "Catfish: The TV Show," Nev Schulman and Max Joseph wanted to prove that not all online relationships are bad romances -- despite the track record of their own show. In fact, this season only saw one "catfish" story culminate in a happy ending. That was the story of Lauren and Derek, who'd been talking online for eight years. They turned out to both be exactly who they said they were.

They got the happy ending of the season, but the end of the season proved that it was only the beginning of the next step for the couple. “Everything’s been changing so quickly, but the only thing that’s remained the same is that I love you," Derek said at the reunion, getting down on one knee in front of Lauren. "I’ve always loved you, and I will always love you. Will you marry me?”

Of course, she said yes. After taping that segment, the newly-engaged couple headed backstage to call Lauren's dad and tell him the big news. Her father was ecstatic, saying that Derek is the only guy Lauren's dated that he's actually liked.

Nev took to Twitter to tout the good news. He wrote, "A #catfish wedding! Dreams do come true.” And it's some much-needed good news for the couple. They suffered a miscarriage in September. Now, they can focus on the life they'll be building together, as well as future opportunities to grow their family.
