Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) has been declared the winner of the special election for U.S. Senate in New Jersey.

Booker defeated Republican businessman and former mayor Steve Lonegan. The election was held to fill the seat of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D), who passed away in June 2013.
