New York, Oct 10 (EFE).- Shakira performed a selection of her hits during a free concert before an estimated 7,500 people at New York's Bryant Park.

The show was part of the launch of a broad multi-year partnership between the Colombian superstar and cell phone company T-Mobile.

The partners will collaborate on platforms to promote and market Shakira's music, advertising campaigns and efforts to raise awareness about the singer's Fundacion Pies Descalzos (Barefoot Foundation), which helps build schools in poor communities in Latin America.

Some 5,000 Colombian children are currently attending schools created with the foundation's assistance.

"Today is all about bringing the world closer together," Shakira said in a press release. "I'm excited to partner with T-Mobile and look forward to being able to share my music in new and innovative ways."
