Greta Van Susteren To Rollie Chance: NBC, CBS 'Need To Pay' For Falsely Calling You Navy Yard Shooter (VIDEO)

Fox News host Greta Van Susteren told Rollie Chance, the man falsely labeled by NBC and CBS News as the Navy Yard shooter, that she thought the networks needed to pay him damages for their error.

Both networks were forced to retract their stories after they identified Chance as the man who shot a dozen people in Washington on Monday. Aaron Alexis, a 34-year-old man, was later identified by the FBI as the suspect. Chance's ID was found near the scene, causing law enforcement to point the finger at him.

Van Susteren spoke to Chance on her Thursday show. (Chance later spoke to HuffPost's own Sam Stein about his ordeal.)

"It is absolutely deplorable that these two networks CBS and NBC did this," she said. "But I must admit next time it could be my mistake. So I understand it, but they need to pay you for what they did to you."

"OK," Chance replied.

Later, Van Susteren asked if NBC and CBS had called to apologize.

"No one has called and apologized to me yet," Chance said.

"They need to as they write that big check to you," Van Susteren said. "The media makes mistakes sometimes. Next time it could be my mistake. Nobody means to do it, but it is libel per se when you accuse someone of a crime falsely. So they need to call you and do right by you."
