Miley Cyrus isn't really making excuses for her behavior, because she doesn't care what you think, but she's also making it pretty clear that the "new Miley" is a result of having been robbed of a proper childhood.
"I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid. So now I'm an adult and I'm acting like a kid," the 20-year-old singer tells Harper's BAZAAR in the magazine's October issue. "There are times when I'm sitting in my big ole house and I'm like, 'I can't believe I'm allowed to be here alone.' "
It's not the first time Cyrus has alluded to the fact that she's unhappy she spent her formative years living the alleged best of both worlds as the star of Disney's "Hannah Montana." Just days after her now-infamous VMAs foam finger-humping performance, Cyrus' interview with Notion magazine hit the newsstands, in which she confessed that she would deter other young people from acting.
"I'm like 'don't do it' because you need to enjoy being a kid. People don't realize but with so many responsibilities you hold an entire company on your back and you're a kid so you're supposed to f**k up," she told Notion. "Then when you do, it's the head of the company that ends up getting letters from a thousand different people and that all comes down on him which then comes down on me. I don't think any kid should be responsible for their personal life representing a company as big as that."
With these comments in mind, it's somewhat fitting that Elton John just weighed in on Cyrus to say he thinks she's headed for a major breakdown, and he likened Cyrus' behavior to that of Michael Jackson.
Notably, Cyrus also declined to discuss her relationship with fiance Liam Hemsworth during her interview with BAZAAR, other than to say the two still plan on getting married. The interview is well-timed since rumors are once again swirling that the pair have broken things off following more cheating allegations, and news that Cyrus abruptly unfollowed Hemsworth on Twitter this past weekend.
