The fascinating story of late Chicago street photographer Vivian Maier continues to unfold with new work, this time 8mm film, coming to light.

Arts and culture site Nowness shared footage from a rare moving picture of Maier's a few days ago. According to WBEZ, the film (embedded above) is from footage Maier shot in downtown Chicago in 1971.

The Chicago nanny who led a secret life as a talented street photographer for some 40 years, died in 2009. A Chicago resident stumbled across a treasure trove of Maier's work a few years earlier, sparking worldwide interest in the intensely private artist.
