'Million Second Quiz' Ratings: NBC's Big Gamble Has Decent Debut

Did NBC's Big Gamble Payoff?

NBC's "The Million Second Quiz" hit the airwaves after months of hype ... and its ratings were decent.

Early Nielsen numbers for "The Million Second Quiz" have it with a premiere audience of 6.5 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. Its competition included "Shark Tank" on ABC (5.7 million viewers, 1.5 rating), US Open on CBS (4.2 million viewers, 0.9 rating), Bones on Fox (3.5 million viewers and a 0.8 rating) and The CW's "Hart of Dixie" (0.6 million viewers) and a 0.2 rating).

The NBC show won its 8 p.m. ET hour, but wasn't the highest-rated program of the night. That went to CBS's "Under The Dome" with an audience of 9.5 million viewers at 10 p.m. ET.

"The Million Second Quiz," a trivia game show, takes place over 12 days and nights with contestants competing for "the largest prize in game show history." "American Idol's" Ryan Seacrest serves as host.

Time will tell whether viewers flee or flock to the 12-day game show.
