'71 Square Miles' Art Project Maps Brooklyn With Each Block's Trash (VIDEO)

WATCH: Mapping BK, One Piece Of Trash At A Time

Jennifer Maravillas is collecting a piece of trash from every block in Brooklyn for a project she's called "71 Square Miles," named for the size of New York's most populous borough.

“I’m interested in trash because it shows so much about people’s lives," she told Animal New York, who tagged along as she searched the streets for compelling litter. "It’s language and design and it’s more this little piece of thing that’s flying around in the wind.”

Watch above as Maravillas pieces the garbage together, block by block, onto a massive map of Brooklyn.
