Sarah and Kimo Bertram's Floating House In San Francisco Is A Modern Marvel (VIDEO)

WATCH: There Is Something Very Different About This Home

When Sarah and Kimo Bertram saw an ad on Craigslist for a fully furnished houseboat, they had no idea it would change their lives. But living in that little dwelling became the inspiration for their recently completed dream home: A 2,100-square-foot floating house on Mission Creek in San Francisco, California.

The couple enlisted Robert Nebolon Architects and general contractor Bart Elmer to design the house on land in Sausalito, and it was later towed to its current residence in the creek. The most interesting part about its construction is that it permanently rests within a concrete barge that keeps it stable in the water. Watch the video above to learn more about the process.

Our friends at Decoist shared photos of the final result, and it's truly stunning. The contemporary open floor plan, soaring windows and natural color palette make it look more like a modern hotel than a houseboat.
