Kanye West has turned down "American Idol," according to Us Weekly. West was reportedly offered a spot on the new judges table for Season 13.

"He didn't want to go that mainstream," a source told Us Weekly about West. "He didn't want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down."

The "American Idol" Season 13 judges panel is still taking shape after Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj all announced their exits following Season 12. The only confirmed judge is Keith Urban. The country singer started on the panel in Season 12 and will likely be joined by Jennifer Lopez.

Lopez judged "American Idol" during Seasons 10 and 11, but departed alongside Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler. Her return is all but confirmed. In July, Fox boss Kevin Reilly said they were in talks with the "Waiting For Tonight" singer to rejoin "Idol." Lopez's boyfriend Casper Smart told E! that she would return to the singing competition as a judge for Season 13. Fox has made no official announcement.

Other rumored names for "American Idol" Season 13 include Will.i.am and producer/songwriter Dr. Luke.

"American Idol" returns to Fox in the winter of 2014.
