The Cost Of Raising A Child Today: $241,080 (INFOGRAPHIC)

It Costs HOW Much To Raise A Child?

New parents, you might want to look away.

The USDA just released its estimate of what it will cost to raise a child born in 2012 until the age of 18. The grand total: $241,080 (or $301,970, taking inflation into account), which is 2.6 percent higher than the number from last year's report.

That's based on a middle-income family, defined as one earning between $60,640 and $105,000 a year.

Other fun facts from the government: it costs more to raise a child in the Northeast than in the South; housing costs more in urban areas than in rural ones; teenagers cost MUCH more to feed than toddlers. (The USDA also offers a tool to help families generate a more accurate estimate specific to their situation. Click here to start.)

The calculation includes such expenses as child care, health care, clothing, food, housing and transportation.

No, it didn't include college.
