'Glee' Star Nolan Gerard Funk Reflects On Friendship With The Late Cory Monteith (VIDEO)

The outpouring of grief surrounding the untimely death of Cory Monteith continues to flow from Hollywood.

Monteith's "Glee" co-star Nolan Gerard Funk discussed the trauma of Monteith's death with HuffPost Live on Friday, August 2. During an interview about Funk's role in "The Canyons" alongside Lindsay Lohan, host Caitlyn Becker asked about the emotional tweet Funk wrote when he heard of Monteith's passing.

Funk said he wrote the tweet as soon as he heard the news.

"I had just sort of found out. I was in Seattle at the time. It was very late at night, and I was sort of out with some friends. I was just shocked," he said.

Funk and Monteith had known each other for a long time because they both went to auditions in Vancouver, and the pair had a chance encounter just before Funk joined the "Glee" family.

"They day before I auditioned for 'Glee,' I had run into him at the grocery store," Funk said. "I didn't even tell him I was going for the show because I didn't really know I was going to get it. So he was a part of that experience for me."

Becker noted the stigma that follows drug abuse in Hollywood and asked Funk what he would want people to know about Monteith beyond the way he dies.

"It's the same thing that everybody else says, that he was a really great guy," he said. "He never was causing problems. He never really let whatever he was struggling with kind of become a part of other people's lives."
