Venice Zip Line Is Finally Open (VIDEO)

Venice Wins!

Going to the boardwalk in Venice Beach, Calif. is an adventure as it is. Now, you can take a wild ride above it all.

It's taken two years, but finally, the Venice zip line opened to the public at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Check out the FOX reporter in the video above going for a ride, 750 feet (or five stories) above the ocean and colorful beach town.

Operated by Flightlinez, the zip line had faced opposition from some concerned residents and business owners but the city council pushed through construction of the attraction.

The zip line is open 11 a.m. to sunset daily, and there will be free shuttles from beach lots 7, 8 and 9. The ride costs $20, $18 for "locals" and transit users with proof, and you must weigh between 60 and 250 pounds to ride. Get your tickets at 1601 Ocean Front Walk, near the zip line platform.

A second phase of the development will include local artwork, and a third phase, starting Aug. 10, will include a "community performance" including local children showing off their zip-line skills, the LA Weekly reports.
