Artist Ronnie Cutrone died on Sunday, July 21, 2013.

Ronnie first appeared on the scene in the early Warhol Factory days, befriending Lou Reed and Jim Morrison, among many others. From 1972 to 1982, Ronnie worked as Andy Warhol's assistant. His behind the scenes snapshots of Andy's studio are some of the seminal images of Warhol's world during that period.

In the early 1980's, Ronnie moved into his own as an artist, exhibiting worldwide, often with great success. His pop sensibility centered around classic cartoon characters like Woody Woodpecker, Felix the Cat and Micky Mouse. His work is in major museum collections including The Museum of Modern Art, The Brooklyn Museum, The Whitney Museum and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

Ronnie was a great friend who touched so many of us with his humor, cynicism and warmth.
RIP Ronnie Cutrone.
