This summer has been a tumultuous one so far, weather-wise. Heat waves, wildfires and floods have plagued the nation. Climate change has been at the forefront of the conversation, attracting the attention of President Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry and even the former CEO of two power companies.

While scientists and activists have tried a number of ways to relay the magnitude of the climate situation, charts and statistics don't necessarily resonate with everyone. That is why Daniel Crawford, a student at the University of Minnesota, has come up with a new way to visualize our warming planet: by utilizing sound as a measure of temperature.
