HuffPost Live Tackles What It Means To Identify As 'Queer'

'When I Was Four Years Old The Garbage Man Called Me A Queer'

Last week HuffPost Live dedicated an entire five days to discussing issues related to and affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.

On Friday, host Alex Berg, along with HuffPost Gay Voices Editor Noah Michelson, Cornell Law School graduate Ash McGovern, Professor of Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies at CUNY Hunter Diana Cage and Doctoral Candidate at St. Louis University Maurice Tracy, chatted about the term "queer," what it means, who uses it and why it's a complicated identifier.

In the clip above, Michelson discusses the first time he was called a "queer" -- by the man who collected his family's garbage -- and why he now uses the term to identify himself.
