Cher Thanks Gay Fans At New York City Marquee 'Q' Party

Cher Thanks Gay Fans And Shares Response To DOMA Being Struck Down

Three days before legendary gay icon Cher is set to perform at NYC Pride's annual Dance on the Pier, she made an appearance at Marquee's Thursday Q party to promote her new single, "Woman's World".

During the party, the "Believe" singer thanked gay fans for sticking with her throughout her career.

"From the bottom of my heart, I mean this. I've had ups and downs in my career and you guys have never left me," she said before singing and dancing to her own tunes.

"I was out, I was uncool, I was whatever -- a has-been, but you guys have always been there... I never thought I would be around this long."

In the midst of the memorable appearance, Out Magazine's Evan Mulvihill was lucky enough to snag an interview with the icon.

During the interview, Cher spoke about her reaction to DOMA being stuck down, Amanda Bynes and more.

"We were screaming," the legend said in regards to her response to the Supreme Court's historic decision.

She then added, "I had a lot of gay friends that were texting me and tweeting me and calling. It’s something that, really, I don’t really understand how we had it in the first place. Like, how did people get away with that kind of sh*t?"
