Victor Martinez Robs Jacoby Ellsbury Of Hit With Incredibly Defensive Play (VIDEO)

'That Was A Fabulous Play'

Victor Martinez hasn't played much at first base for Detroit this season, but he made an incredible defensive play to rob Boston's Jacoby Ellsbury of an extra base hit.

In the top of the sixth inning on Sunday, Ellsbury ripped a hard ground ball down the first base line. First, Martinez dove for the ball but couldn't keep it in his glove. The ball started rolling away into foul territory when Martinez dove for the ball again and somehow delivered a no-look, backwards pass to reliever Drew Smyly covering the base.

Out.

Detroit went on to rally late and win 7-5.
