Former Teacher Of The Year Accused Of Sex With Student

An educator once honored with a teacher of the year award has been placed on leave pending an investigation into an alleged sexual relationship with a students.

Michele Lynn Johnson, 45, was arrested on Wednesday night, according to the OC Weekly. The math teacher at Brea Olinda High School is accused of unlawful sex with a minor after the victim's father called police to report the alleged crime.

According to the Associated Press, the victim told police he had sex with Johnson more than once and KABC reports that the pair had "several" encounters.

KABC also reports that Johnson is a married mother of two. In 2009, she received Brea Olinda High School's teacher of the year award.

One of her neighbors said she was dismayed by the allegations.

"It's kind of a shame to hear something like this happening," Shanna Kostadinov told the station.

Johnson is out on $20,000 bail. The age of the victim was not released.
