Everyone deserves to feel like a superstar for a day, and thanks to one thoughtful teen, 600 athletes did.
This year, all 600 participants at the Hudson Valley Special Olympics Spring Games were able to go home with prizes because of high school sophomore Brendan Murphy.
According to HooplaHa, each athlete received a trophy at the end of the competition as a result of Brendan's initiative, STARS, which collects old trophies and rewards them to deserving competitors. "I hope they all feel like winners today no matter what," Brendan said of the Special Olympics participants.

The teen was inspired to create the initiative upon realizing how many boxes of Irish step dancing awards his sister had in her attic. After writing about the idea on a message board, it quickly took off.
"I can't shut off the supply line for the trophies. They just keep rolling in," Brendan said. "This couldn't be a better place to give them to."
