An Unusual Composting Trick

We're always looking for new gardening ideas to help make our flowers and veggies grow as wonderfully as possibility. We're also always interested in finding repurposing tips so we can be eco-friendly along the way. That's why when we came across TLC's list of 75 things you can compost, we had to share.

The website recommends adding your pencil shavings to the mixture. Pretty unusual huh? Well, that's not the only thing these little scraps are good for in the garden. Our own blogger Bruce Lubin recommends in his book "Who Knew?" to add them to plants that have a bug infestation. Just mix them in the bottom soil to get rid of these pests.
