Daphne Oz Talks Weight Loss: 'I Wasn't Going To Give Up My New Jersey Bagels'

At 17 years old and 5'8", Daphne Oz weighed 180 pounds. But didn't her famous father, Dr. Oz, have a simple solution on hand?

People thought so, she said during a panel at The Third Metric conference last week, but to really make a change she needed to commit to weight loss for herself.

That was when she decided to embark on a journey to make health information more practical for the average dieter -- with the understanding that all the information in the world can't make you lose weight if you're not emotionally ready to do so, she said.

Today, having lost the weight -- and kept it off, despite a gig co-hosting "The Chew" and having Mario Batali's homemade pasta at the ready -- she has new goals: to make healthy food "affordable, accessible and convenient," she said.

"I love to eat, I wasn't going to give up my New Jersey bagels or my brownies on the weekend," she said. "I had to do it in a way that makes sense as part of an overall healthy lifestyle."
