Queen Elizabeth II visited the BBC on Friday to open its New Broadcasting House in London. She delivered a radio address declaring the The New Broadcasting House open. "It is a great pleasure to visit the BBC today, and to see it in its new home," she said.

BBC staffers took her on a tour of the new facility and host John Humphrys presented her with a radio. She also sat for a live performance by the Irish soft rock band, The Script

The Duke of Edinburgh did not attend the BBC opening with the Queen as he was admitted to a London hospital earlier this week where he will undergo pre-planned surgery.
