Canadian Hockey Fan Turns McDonald's Promo Into A Meal For The Homeless (PHOTO)

LOOK: This Hockey Fan Turned A Promotional Gift Into A Heartwarming Gesture

Most sports fans would have just walked away with a free gift at a game, but one Reddit user decided to turn the freebies he'd received into meals for the homeless.

Engjosh88 wrote in a post to Reddit yesterday that the Ottawa Senators, a Canadian ice hockey team, scored in the last minute of the game's third period -- which meant free Big Macs for the crowd through a McDonald's promotion. He and his friends then gathered as many tickets as they could find from family and strangers to cash in for a total of 24 burgers to give to the homeless.

The post garnered more than 11,000 upvotes.

"This is probably one of the most meaningful posts I've seen on Reddit," one user wrote. "From now on if the Sens score in the last minute when I'm there, I will donate my stub to someone who needs it."

Earlier this month, the Associated Press wrote about Anthony Cymerys, a Hartford, Conn. barber who gives out haircuts to the homeless and accepts hugs as payment.
