Marriage Reasons: Societal And Familial Pressure Is Marriage Motivation (VIDEO)

'I Was Living Out Of A Laundry Basket In My Friend's Basement'

Couples decide to get married for many reasons, with love hopefully taking the top spot.

But not all marriage motivations are created equally. Jordan Campbell stopped by HuffPost Live late last week and dished on some of the reasons he ended up tying the knot.

"I was in a long-term relationship and it felt like -- whether it's societal pressure or its familial pressure -- it just becomes the next step in your life; that's what you do," he said. "If you're dating somebody long-term for three years, the question arises: when are you going to get married? What's the next step? It gets in your head a little bit."

He ended up divorcing his spouse after a year and a half, and says the transition from married life to single life wasn't all that easy.

"I was essentially living out of a laundry basket in my friend's basement for a couple months," Campbell told host Nancy Redd. "You can't expect to go through something like that and come out 100 percent on the other end right away. It's a long process and it's a long learning process but it's life."
