Allen West Joins Fox News As Contributor

Fox News' Latest Hire

Fox News announced on Friday that former Tea Party congressman Allen West has joined the network as a contributor.

West's hiring was the latest in a string of former politicos to join the network. Earlier this year, Fox News severed ties with Sarah Palin and Dick Morris. The network later hired Scott Brown, who guest hosted his first-ever primetime show last month, and Dennis Kucinich.

Fox News' Bill Shine said in a statement obtained by The Washington Post, "Representative West’s congressional and military experience along with his fearless approach to voicing key issues will provide a valuable point of view to the FOX News lineup."

West was elected congressman of Florida's 22nd congressional district in 2010, beating out Democratic incumbent Ron Klein. Due to redistricting, West switched to Florida's 18th congressional district for the 2012 election and eventually lost his seat to the Democratic candidate, Patrick Murphy.
