'What Maisie Knew' Starring Julianne Moore Spotlights Custody Battle (VIDEO)

Julianne Moore's Latest Role May Click With Divorced Moms

"What Maisie Knew," which hit theaters in limited release on May 3 to generally favorable reviews (Entertainment Weekly notwithstanding), tells the story of a bitter custody battle that may sound all too familiar to divorcés.

Based on Henry James' 1897 novel, the movie is told through the eyes of six-year-old Maisie, played by Onata Aprile, who is caught in her parents' divorce dispute. What's more, her rockstar mom (played by Julianne Moore) and art dealer dad (Steve Coogan) begin relationships with inappropriate partners (Alexander Skarsgård and Joanna Vanderham) post-split, who also play a role in Maisie's upbringing.

In the clip above, we see a glimpse of what Maisie's life is like with her mom -- before she is promptly handed off to her mom's partner.
