Marcus Lattimore NFL Draft Video: Running Back Gets Emotional After Getting Drafted

Emotional Draft Day Video

One hundred and thirty football players were selected before Marcus Lattimore in the 2013 NFL Draft. But that hardly mattered when he finally got the call from the San Francisco 49ers during the fourth round.

The NFL Network followed the star running back out of South Carolina during the draft. A projected first-round pick before the 2012 season, Lattimore's junior campaign at South Carolina was cut short by a devastating knee injury, the second his of college career.

After not hearing his name called during the first two days -- and three rounds -- of the draft, Lattimore spent the final day of the draft with family and friends at a restaurant in Atlanta, Ga. When he finally got the call from the 49ers, the only person who seemed more excited than him was his mother, Yolanda Smith. She screamed as her son tried to talk on the phone.

"When I picked up the phone, it was the 49ers and my heart was just beating as fast as it could. It was just joy. I mean that's the only way I can describe it," Lattimore said.
