The ever busy Tom Hiddleston probably won't be flying as the title character in "The Crow." Deadline.com's Mike Fleming reports that Hiddleston was discussed for lead role in the remake, but the "simple conversation has been overhyped."

That hyping started on April 19 when TheWrap reported that Hiddleston was in early talks to join "The Crow." From TheWrap report:

Hiddleston recently had dinner with producers and sent them a makeup test that he did on his own in London. He will undergo a proper makeup test in the coming days, as the character's appearance is important to fans of the franchise, who should be delighted with the casting of a major member of the Marvel universe.

Whether Hiddleston eventually does get the part -- after all, a "simple conversation" can still lead to some kind of deal -- remains to be seen. "The Crow," however, has had trouble finding a leading man. Bradley Cooper was originally attached to star but had to drop out because of scheduling issues back in 2011. (Cooper had to make David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" instead; the film earned him a Best Actor nomination.) At the time, THR reported that Channing Tatum and Mark Wahlberg were possibilities to take his place, but neither actor signed up for the job.

"The Crow" was first released in 1994. The film focused on a dead rock musician who comes back to life to get revenge on those who killed him. Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, starred in the film, but died during production after being accidentally shot when a stunt went awry. He was just 28 at the time of his death.
