Sony World Photography Awards 2013: Announcing This Year's Winners (PHOTOS)

Announcing The Sony World Photo Winners!

The winners of the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards were announced today at a gala in London. Lucky honorees celebrated victories in categories spanning architecture, current affairs, landscape and travel.

Hosted by the World Photography Organization, the annual Sony World Photography extravaganza began earlier this year when the competition received 122,000 submitted entries -- a record number of submissions. A few shortlists of winners were released in February 2013 -- Open, Youth, and Professional -- while titles like "Overall Open Winner of the Year" and "Student Focus Photographer of the Year" were reserved for this month's grand celebration.

Scroll through the slideshow below for a look at the photographers who walked away with Sony Awards this year. From Christian Aslund's photo tributes to two-dimensional gaming to Gali Tibbon's powerful images of religion in Israel, the 2013 bunch of winners is a feast for any art admirer's eyes.
