AJ Clemente Fired: KFYR Faces Backlash For Axing Anchor After On Air Gaffe

Local News Station Faces Backlash After Firing Anchor

Many viewers have written to a local North Dakota news station to defend anchor AJ Clemente, whose major slip of the tongue whipped its way around the Internet on Monday.

Clemente apologized for saying "f---ing sh-t" on air just as his debut appearance on Sunday's KFYR news program began. On Monday, he revealed through his Twitter account that he had been fired by the station. KFYR is now facing backlash for that decision, as viewers have taken to the station's Facebook page to plead for Clemente's job.

Many seem to have felt that the gaffe was unfortunate, but certainly not grounds for firing Clemente. Twitter users even created a hashtag "#keepaj" to aid the cause.

Viewers tweeted that firing Clemente was "harsh," and pointed out that he was probably "just nervous." Clemente's story was the topic of David Letterman's "Top 10" list Monday night and featured on "CBS This Morning" on Tuesday.
