Former Def Jam Records lawyer-turned-radio personality, Reggie Ossé is adding another chapter to his ever-expanding career as his popular podcast, “The Combat Jack Show” makes its debut on Complex TV.
Beginning on April 22 the weekly 12-episode web series will feature Ossé as he interviews various Hip-Hop acts including Waka Flaka Flame, Killer Mike, El-P, Prodigy, Scarface, Large Professor and Talib Kweli to name a few.
“Going from an outsider to having worked as an attorney in the music industry, I witnessed first-hand the intimate back stories of some of our favorite hip hop personalities,” the former magazine editor said in a statement provided to the Huffington Post.
“Their back stories blew me away and gave much texture to their lives – who these rap superheroes are, what drove them to greatness, what demons tormented them, and, most importantly, what makes them human.”
“In this 24-hour Information Age, it's easy to see our heroes as more or less than, and it's become easier for us to prop up or tear down those brave enough to share their work with us,” he continued. “Hip hop, contrary to popular belief, has never been a one dimensional, monolithic culture, and it's time for our favorite personalities to share with us their most intimate life stories -- no bullshit, just life to life.”
Complex Media Editor-in-Chief, Noah Callahan-Bever underscored Jack’s thoughts by envisioning his “unique skill” as being the cornerstone in the show's future success.
“There has never been a forum on television for thoughtful, in-depth interviews with hip hop artists and industry professionals,” Callahan-Bever admitted. “Having been a guest on Jack's internet radio show, I was struck by the disarming, almost Dick Cavett-esque manner in which he is able to turn an interview into a conversation.”
“I think his unique skill will translate well into an extremely compelling TV experience on our burgeoning video channel.”
