Hickenlooper On Boston Marathon: 'Our Hearts Ache'

The deadly bombing at the Boston Marathon Monday has left at least three people dead and more than 140 others wounded. And although Boston may seem far from Denver, Colorado, Gov. John Hickenlooper posted on Facebook what many Coloradans are feeling in their hearts in the aftermath of this tragedy:

Doesn't matter how far we live from Boston, our hearts ache just the same. Prayers and thoughts are with a great city. #bostonmarathon

Two explosions rocked the Boston Marathon near the finish line, causing multiple casualties and sending the city into chaos. Another explosion occurred at the JFK Library, but authorities were unsure if the incidents were linked.

The blasts downtown in Copley Square occurred just before 3:00 p.m., according to MyFoxBoston.

There is no "person of interest" in custody, said Commissioner Ed Davis at an evening press conference.

Denver Police Department says that at this time there is no known connection to Denver and no known threats to the city, but they do encourage vigilance if something suspicious is seen. DPD statement:

The Denver Police Department is aware of the incident in Boston. At this time, there are no known links to Denver and no known threats.

We do remind citizens that safety is everyone’s responsibility. People should be vigilant and if they “See something, say something”. In other words, all suspicious activity should be reported to police.

We are in contact with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, should we learn of any link to Denver or specific threat to the safety of people in Denver, we will advise you immediately.
