'Parks And Recreation' Renewed: NBC Orders Season 6

PAWNEE FOREVER

"Parks and Recreation" has been renewed, NBC has confirmed. Long live Pawnee!

The comedy, starring Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope, will return for a sixth season. With the series on the bubble, NBC's decision to renew "Parks and Recreation," which is beloved by viewers and critics alike, had the cast celebrating.

Nick Offerman, who plays Ron Swanson on the series, tweeted about NBC renewing "Parks and Rec."

Along with Retta, Rashida Jones, Aubrey Plaza, Ben Schwartz, and Jim O'Heir:

NBC has yet to release information on the timeslot and number of episodes for "Parks and Rec" Season 6. The show's co-creator Mike Schur told HitFix earlier in May that he was "fairly confident" that "Parks and Rec" would be renewed. He said that he had written the finale to set things up for a sixth season rather than as a series finale.

Though never a ratings champ, "Parks and Rec" has a solid and consistent audience, something the struggling NBC needs to keep around. Season 5 kicked off to 3.9 million viewers and the Season 5 finale of "Parks and Rec," which also stars Adam Scott, Rob Lowe and Chris Pratt, aired on May 2 and brought in 2.99 million viewers total and a 1.6 rating in key 18-49 demo.
