'Hannibal' Premiere: Lecter Is As Delectable As Ever (VIDEO)

NBC's "Hannibal" debuted Thursday night, and plans to give us the backstory on one of the most notorious, villainous characters of our time: Hannibal Lecter. In the premiere, we saw the young Hannibal meet Hugh Dancy’s character, Will Graham, an FBI investigator. And, there had to be food involved, didn’t there?

“A little protein scramble to start with, eh? Some eggs. Some sausage,” Hannibal offered. What was in the sausage? What was in the sausage?!

For now we don’t know -- but the show is gory, and will bring in some familiar characters as it goes.

The premiere was well-received by critics. E! said the show is beautifully shot and well-acted. EW agreed, calling the acting mesmerizing, and dubbing that eggs-and-sausage scene the best, um, bite of the premiere. And The Seattle Post Intelligencer said though the serial killer show market is now crowded with Fox’s "The Following" and A&E’s "Bates Motel," this show stands out.
