It looks like the upturn in the economy is affecting more that just Wall Street. Results from the second annual Houzz and Home Survey, which included responses gathered from over 100,000 homeowners, determined that home remodeling projects were on the rise in 2013.

In fact, 53 percent of respondents said that they believe now is a good time to begin construction on their houses, and the number of people who said that they're holding off on these activities because of financial concerns has dropped from 52 to 45 percent.

The majority of homeowners are motivated to begin these projects in hopes of improving the look and feel of their spaces. And the room that they're focusing on the most? A whopping 28 percent said they will be remodeling their bathrooms within the year. Not surprisingly, last year's survey by the National Association of Home Builders reported that building professionals claimed that updating the loo was their most requested work.

And it makes sense to start there. Angie Hicks, from Angie's List, recently wrote that homeowners can expect to recoup at least 80 percent of bathroom remodeling costs when they go to sell their home.

So, if you are renovating at home this spring, good luck, and make sure to click through our slideshow of ten home projects you probably shouldn't DIY- unless you are a professional.
